Health Education
The Cleveland County Health Department Health Education Program provides education, promotion, and prevention services to the residents of Cleveland County. Services include but are not limited to:
- Reproductive Health and Safety
- Assisting Community Groups to assess problems such as teen pregnancy, violence prevention and cardiovascular disease prevention
- Available for Community Health Programs and School Health Programs
- Providing Educational Support to all Units of the Health Department
- Roots and Wings
- Strategic Planning and Marketing for the Health Department
- Community Outreach for Drug Abuse Prevention (CODAP)

Anne Short
Community Health Services Director
Anne is the captain of this ship. She is responsible for overseeing everything the health education staff undertakes. She is also responsible for all services that are directed out of house in the community. As if this wasn’t enough, Anne is also the director of the Alliance for Health, whose goal is to bring community partners together to better the lives of Cleveland County citizens.

Henry Earle

Henry has a variety of responsibilities, including supervision of CODAP services, the SOBIR program, management of the website and he is the graphic artist for the health department. He also runs the Step One Challenge and Step One 5K, teaches reproductive health and safety and teaches puberty.
Dana Hamrick

Dana is the Roots & Wings Program Coordinator. Roots & Wings is a grant funded program that provides substance abuse assessments and education to referred Cleveland County juveniles. Roots & Wings also provides parent/youth skill building classes to referred juveniles and their parents/guardians.
Joyce King

Joyce is the Health Promotion Coordinator for Cleveland County. Her main job focus is to help the citizens of Cleveland County to lead a more healthful lifestyle. She is involved in schools and the communities trying to make changes in policies and the environment that will lead to a healthier Cleveland County.
Katie Jones

Katie serves as the Reproductive Health and Safety Coordinator. Her primary responsibility is to help the schools meet the requirements for the Healthy Youth Act by providing reproductive health and safety training and education to school staff and students. She coordinates puberty education for all fifth grade students in Cleveland County. In addition, Katie sees SOBIR clients.
Tyler McDaniel

Tyler currently works at the Health Department and teaches a comprehensive drug prevention class to all Cleveland County 8th grade students. He also manages the health department’s Tuesday morning satellite farmer’s market and assists Henry with the Step One Challenge and Step One 5K. Tyler also sees SOBIR clients.
