m2hzwf2jouK-12 Conservation ProgramsThe Cleveland Soil & Water Conservation District wishes to inspire K-12 county students to explore environmental issues & make informed environmental decisions through high quality lessons, programming, & outreach. 
Lesson highlights: 

  • All programs are FREE
  • Follow  North Carolina Essential Science Standards
  • Interactive & activity based
  • Lessons last generally 45-90 minutes long but can be adjusted to need
  • All materials provided
Lesson examples  and possible topics:
  • Goods from the Woods, K-1st, Science Standards Correlations: K.P.2.2, K.G.2.2; 30-45 min program
  • Soil Babies, 1st grade, Science Standard Correlations: 1.E2.1, 1.E.2.2, 1L.1.1, 1.L.1.3; 30-45 min program
  • Worms: Nature's Recycler's, K-3, Science, reading, and health; 30-45 min program
  • The Incredible Journey, 3-5th grade; Subject Area: Earth Science, Water Cycle; 50 minutes
  • Other programs we are developing are on vermicomposting and composting, watersheds, pollinators, forestry, wildlife, and much more.
