At the May 21 meeting, the Cleveland County Board of Commissioners recognized three recipients of the Governor's Volunteer Service Award.
Cleveland County award winners include:
- Lillie Hinton of Lawndale who volunteered more than 18,000 hours with the Greater Cleveland County Baptist Association
- Susan Ashworth of Shelby who volunteered more than 420 hours with Hospice Cleveland County
- Windjammers Motorcycle Club who have volunteered for Children's Homes of Cleveland County for 30 years.
