On July 20, Cleveland County Animal Services held a special adoption event with the goal of finding forever homes for the 19 dogs in this photo collage. Thanks to tremendous support from the community, all 19 of these dogs, plus seven more dogs, and six cats were all adopted at our "It's Raining Cats and Dogs.....Especially Dogs" adoption day. Before the shelter opened, a long line of people had already formed and they were excited to adopt dogs that needed homes. The usual adoption fee of $40 was waived for this special day and adoptive families were asked to make a donation instead. Finding homes for all of the dogs in the shelter was important because the shelter had reached maximum capacity and dogs were going to have to be euthanized. When we announced the special adoption day, animal lovers stepped up to save dogs' lives. Thank you to everyone who gave these dogs forever homes.
Leroy
Leroy poses with his forever family and then enjoys his "freedom ride" to his new home. Leroy's new mom is training him to be a therapy dog. The first thing thing he has learned is how to give hugs and he loves showing off.
Copper
When Copper's new Dad saw that dogs needed homes on Facebook, he told his parents that he wanted to adopt one. His parents agreed and brought him to the animal shelter on Saturday and they picked out Copper to take home. Copper had been at the shelter for months and her time was ending soon. So, this family saved her life just in time to give her what every dog should have - a loving, forever family.
