The 94th Annual Cleveland County Fair, held from Sept. 27 to October 7 had amazing attendance this year with 145,763 people enjoying one of the largest county fairs in the state. Last year's attendance was 121,560, so this year's attendance saw 24,000 more people go through the turnstiles than last year.
Although rain put a damper on the fair the first few days, the weather perfect for most of the fair.
The Cleveland County Fair is a tradition for people who live here, but it also draws people from throughout the Southern Piedmont of North and South Carolina. Although alot of people go to the fair to ride the rides, most people are interested in sampling the food. The fair has old favorites including french fries with salt and vinegar, turkey legs, barbecue, funnel cakes and cotton candy, but it also had new foods for fair goers to try including giant pork chops on a stick and deep-fried candy bars.
Thank you to all of the people who work behind the scenes to make the fair a special event for people of all ages.
