Emergency Shelter Opened Friday, September 27th at Health Department

SHELBY, N.C.– In response to the widespread power outages and damage from Hurricane Helene, a shelter has opened at 7:00 PM on Friday, September 27th at the Cleveland County Social Services and Health Department Building at 200 S Post Road in Shelby. We encourage all residents in need of assistance to utilize this resource.

Important Reminders:

  • Please bring all medication, a change of clothes, activities or games for children, diapers, formula for infants, as well as pillows and extra blankets. Each cot will be provided with one wool blanket.
  • The shelter will provide meals; however, citizens are encouraged to bring nonperishable snacks for personal use.
