Cleveland County Citizen’s Phone Bank Opening at 5 PM on Sun., Sept. 29

SHELBY, N.C.– As we continue to experience extended power outages throughout our community, the resource needs of our community are changing. Cleveland County Government will be opening a Citizen’s Phone Bank to serve as a single source of information for our citizens.

The Phone Bank will provide information on where to find gas, groceries, medication, and other important resources and can be reached at (980) 484-4636 (INFO). The Phone Bank will be open from 5 to 9 PM on Sunday, September 29th. It will resume Monday, September 30th from 7 AM to 7 PM until power has been restored to much of the County.

In addition, the Emergency Shelter at the Cleveland County Health Department (200 S Post Road in Shelby) will remain open through Monday, September 30th, and continue as long as people need shelter, largely driven by the power outages.

Meals will be provided to residents utilizing the shelter; however, citizens are encouraged to bring nonperishable snacks for personal use. Please bring all medication, a change of clothes, activities or games for children, diapers, formula for infants, as well as pillows and extra blankets. Each cot will be provided with one wool blanket.
