Cleveland County Debris Removal

On behalf of the Cleveland County Board of Commissioners, our community has engaged CrowderGulf to remove vegetative debris related to Hurricane Helene. The Board of Commissioners, without hesitation, decided to proactively volunteer to take on this responsibility to expedite the removal of the storm debris.

Cleveland County’s goal is to begin the debris removal process by the end of next week.  By notifying you in advance, we intend to provide you with sufficient time to place yard debris at the curb/side of the road so it can be picked up and removed from your property.  Please make sure that the debris does not extend into the road.  The contractor is not permitted to leave the roadway or enter onto private property.

There is an estimated 250,000 yds3 to 300,000 yds3 of vegetative debris, which will be reduced to 75,000 yds3 to 100,000 yds3 of mulch.  The estimated timeline for debris removal is 60 to 90 days. We will also notify you towards the end of the debris removal process as to the last day the contractor will be picking up debris at the curb/side of the road.  Please check the county’s website and social media accounts for the most up-to-date information.

Saturday, October 19th Update

As we work together to recover from Hurricane Helene, we are asking all residents to move fallen branches, leaves, and other debris to the curb for efficient pickup by our contractors. Contractors began debris removal on Thursday, October 17th.

Please make sure that the debris does not extend into the road. The contractor is not permitted to leave the roadway or enter onto private property. The estimated timeline for debris removal is 60 to 90 days.

Monday, October 28th Update

As of October 28th, 22,700 cubic yards of storm debris have been removed across the County. That is equivalent to more than 560 large dumpsters!

Please move fallen branches, leaves, and other debris to the curb for efficient pickup. The contractor is not permitted to leave the roadway or enter onto private property.

Contractors will continue circulating the County and collecting debris over the coming weeks. Please be patient as we do not have information about the exact times and locations of where the contractors will be.
