The old Doran Mill was demolished in October and now bricks from the mill will be available to purchase beginning Dec. 19.
“When the Doran Mill demolition was announced, we were contacted by multiple people who wanted bricks because they had worked at the mill or had family members who had worked there,” said Cleveland County Public Information Officer Janet Hart.
According to Hart, Cleveland County cannot legally give away property that it owns, including the bricks, but the County can sell them. So, the Cleveland County Board of Commissioners passed a resolution authorizing the county manager to sell any salvageable materials from the mill.
“The Doran Mill bricks will be sold for $1 per brick while supplies last,” said Hart, “and they are definitely a unique Christmas present for family members who worked at the Mill.”
The Doran Mill bricks will be available to purchase at the Foothills Public Shooting Complex gift shop, located at 283 Fielding Road in Shelby. The bricks will be available beginning Wednesday, Dec. 19 until the supply runs out. The gift shop’s hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 9:30 AM until 4:30 PM and Sunday, 1:30 PM until 4:30 PM.
