Cleveland County Honors Vietnam Era Veterans with Celebration
SHELBY, N.C.- Cleveland County Veteran Services, along with community partners, will host a special Homecoming Celebration to honor Vietnam Era Veterans on Friday, March 28th, at the LeGrand Center. This event promises to be a memorable occasion for our community to express gratitude for the service and sacrifices of our Vietnam-era veterans.
The Celebration is open to Vietnam-era veterans who served between Feb 28, 1961, and May 7, 1975. Veterans are welcome to bring one guest and must RSVP by visiting the Veterans Services Office by March 12th.
Doors will open at 10 a.m., with the program starting at 11 a.m. Guests will be treated to a delicious lunch featuring baked spaghetti, bread, salad, and dessert, catered by Dressing on the Side.
Event Highlights Include:
- Special Music by Joe Collins
- National Anthem performed by local Army veteran Larry Ray
- Guest Speaker: Jim Medlin, Vietnam Veteran – Air Force
- Emcee: Marty Pendergraft, Veterans Advisory Council
- Overview of Cleveland County Veterans Services: Julie Crotts, Director
- Blessing and Invocation: Eric Davis
- American Legion will post the colors
- Vendor Tables featuring:
- Blue Ridge Honor Flights
- NC Quilts of Honor
- Golden Solutions
- Vet Center
- VIA Health
- Cleveland County Veteran Services
- Pinning Ceremony by Pam Shartz, VIA Health
Additionally, Foothills Public Shooting Range will provide golf carts for veterans in need of transportation to the event from the parking area.
