State & Local Burn Bans Remain in Effect Until Further Notice

Any form of burning is strictly prohibited, except for cooking on an enclosed grill. Local fire departments are working around the clock, responding to calls and reports of smoke.

Anyone violating the burn ban faces a $100 fine plus $183 court costs. Any person responsible for setting a fire may be liable for any expenses related to extinguishing the fire.

Our thoughts are with our friends in neighboring counties facing wildfires, strong winds, and the evacuation of residents. We stand with you during this challenging time and hope for the safety and well-being of everyone affected.

Governor Issued State of Emergency
Cleveland County was included in the State of Emergency declared by the Governor on March 26th, due to the current and anticipated impacts from multiple wildfires combined with the moderate drought conditions and abnormally dry conditions.

📌 What is a State of Emergency? A State of Emergency allows the state to:
• Mobilize Resources: More firefighting teams, equipment, and supplies will be sent to areas in need, helping protect lives and property.
• Coordinate Aid: State and federal agencies can provide assistance more efficiently, ensuring our communities get the help they need.
• Activate Emergency Plans: Local authorities have the green light to take swift action, including evacuation orders or road closures, if necessary, to keep residents safe.
• Access Emergency Funding: This declaration opens up state and federal funds to support firefighting efforts, recovery, and assistance for affected residents.
